Paul French

Paul's musical background includes everything from being an extra in an Ace Frehley video in the 80s to playing an acoustic version of YYZ on Toronto radio in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Rush.

Paul started playing in a heavy metal band (with a name so terrible, it can't be written here. Think of the worst metal band name you can come up with. Got one? Yeah. It was worse than that!) in the mid 80s. The band broke up shortly after they irreparably damaged the electrical system of the first high school at which they played.

He followed this up playing guitar for 80s power pop band The Clique, finding himself suddenly left with lead vocal duties when their singer disappeared on the eve of their first gig. From there, he played several downtown Toronto clubs in the late 90s, including the world famous El Mocambo with Echo, before that band morphed into Sealed Weasels. Sealed Weasels had a successful single with Bionic in the early days of mp3.com.

Since then, Paul has played numerous gigs, including weddings and outdoor music festivals, as one half of the acoustic duo The Stupids, jamming with former Beatles sidemen, and even having an opportunity to drink from the fabled Grey Cup at the behest of several members of the Toronto Argonauts (you do not want to argue with those guys!).

These days, Paul enjoys playing guitar with Bad Neighbours, where, once again plugged in, he knocks out crunchy chords and searing solos, while also adding to the unique vocal texture that sets the band apart from all others.
